What
Is the Purpose of These Resources?
Indiana’s Academic Standards Resources are tools for
teachers to use in aligning classroom instruction and assessment
to Indiana’s Academic Standards.
These resources are not complete curricula and are neither
required nor prescriptive, but they can be valuable instructional
tools. Teachers will likely find that much of their current
instruction already aligns with the standards. If gaps exist,
these resource materials may be use to supplement curriculum.
What Do These Resources Include?
- Classroom Activities (Curriculum
Frameworks and Marco Polo Lesson Plans) – A series
of instructional activities geared toward the teaching of
each standard. The activities include blackline master handouts
and feature opportunities for incorporating technology,
other content areas and standards, and tips for extending
the activities and meeting the individual needs of students;
- Classroom Assessments – Assessments
designed to measure what students know and what they need
to learn in relation to the standards. For Grades K-8, the
Classroom Assessments include two short standards-based
quizzes for each standard or cluster of related standard
indicators. At the high school level, the assessments are
designed to measure student progress at the end of the course.
- Standards Summary – A summary of
the knowledge and skills in each standard for each grade
(K-8) or course (high school);
- Scope and Sequence – Information
on how each standard spans previous and next grade levels.
A Note About Internet Resources
